The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) is hosting a stakeholder meeting about renewables this Tuesday February 13th, 2024 at 10 a.m.
Texas Senate Bill 1290 requires TCEQ to study “current and potential effects of the installation, operation, removal, and disposal of solar, wind turbine, and energy storage equipment on the environment and watersheds.” The bill requires coordination with the Department of Agriculture, Texas A&M Forest Service, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service, groundwater conservation districts, and river authorities. TCEQ has contracted with the Texas Bureau of Economic Geology to conduct the study and draft a report. The report is due to the Texas legislature December 1, 2024.
