Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our Natural Resources team as a Senior Biologist and Project Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing projects and a team of Biologists and Scientists to deliver services to the marketplace in an organized and disciplined manner, striving to continuously improve in the areas of Consultative Project Management and Technical Guidance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver the professional consulting services offered by ESE Partners using ESE delivery systems and methodologies.
- Manage numerous projects simultaneously with a focus on Natural Resources.
- Develop scopes of work, proposals, budget estimates, and project strategies for various types of environmental projects.
- Lead preparation of various Natural Resources related reports, including Biological Resource Evaluations, Wetland Delineation Reports, Critical Issues Analyses, and Environmental Resource Inventories.
- When necessary, conduct Field Investigations – Water Resources Evaluation (Wetland Delineation and Determination), Wildlife Surveys, and Environmental Assessments.
- Maintain a 85% utilization rate.
- Manage project budgets.
- Author and review technical reports.
- Negotiate with regulators on behalf of clients.
- Manage subcontractor accounts.
- Manage client accounts and approve client invoices prior to delivery.
- Attend sales meetings and presentations, as necessary.
- Promote the development of staff careers.
- Assist in the training and mentoring of junior staff on the Natural Resources team.
- Provide technical and marketing/sales assistance to other team members when called upon.
- Develop, maintain and grow professional relationships with clients and customers.
- Perform other project duties, as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Wildlife Biology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in Environmental Consulting, specifically Natural Resources.
- Proficiency in ecological assessments, wetland delineations, habitat restoration, and biological surveys.
- Strong understanding of environmental regulations.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in report writing and documentation.
- Effective project management, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel for site assessments.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience negotiating with the USACE on behalf of clients
- Experience with environmental sampling and analysis.
- Familiarity with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and environmental data interpretation to support planning and reporting tasks.
- Ability to lead project teams and mentor junior staff in technical tasks and career development.
