Preparing the Texas air emissions inventory can be a demanding task. If you have a large facility or operation, this task can take a significant amount of time and effort. This endeavor is required to be performed every year for all facilities that have emission sources authorized by NSR, PSD, and/or Title V permits, per Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) requirements. If you have limited time and resources, consider working with the experts at ESE Partners. We can help streamline the process of submitting your air emissions inventory in Texas, freeing up your time so you can focus on what you do best.
The Basics of Emissions Inventory Requirements
If your facility is authorized under NSR, PSD, or Title V you are subject to 30 TAC 101.10(a). To comply with this regulation the TCEQ requires your business to provide a Texas air emissions inventory reporting emissions of pollutants such as the following:
- Sulfur dioxide
- VOCs (volatile organic compounds)
- Particulate matter (including PM10 and PM5)
- Carbon monoxide
- HAPs (hazardous air pollutants)
- Lead
- And others
If your facility is subject to air emissions inventory in Texas requirements, you have to report emissions through both the AEIR (Air Emissions Inventory Reporting) within the STEERS (State of Texas Environmental Electronic Reporting System). In order to ensure accuracy and completeness, your facility has to provide consistency. It will be imperative that your TRI (toxic release inventory, the report you have to provide to the EPA) matches the emissions results you report to TCEQ. In cases where they don’t, the TCEQ will reach out to you for a resolution to this issue, causing you to spend more time away from your daily tasks.
This just scratches the surface of the many hoops facility operators have to jump through when it comes to air emissions inventory in Texas. The responsibilities are onerous, to say the least.
